About Us:

The Board of Directors consists of six members, who make up the current management [as acting officers].

Etienne van der Nest
Founder, Chairmen of the Board [acting CEO]

Etienne has gained his first hospitality and tourism experience as the restaurant manager of a renowned hotel in Johannesburg.  He is a trained chef, has traveled extensively in Europe and the Americas and managed tourist destinations in the Caribbean, before he settled in South Africa, where he took on the management of his family business, including a four star lodge in the Kruger National Park.
Etienne is also a classically trained tenor, adding a personal touch to his hospitality services program.

 

Francois van der Nest
President

Francois acquired his business savvy in Insurance and Real Estate services prior to joining the family business.  While heading the family’s lodge, he expanded its size and service offerings by adding a camp lodge in Mozambique, among other things.  When Etienne took over the helm in Kruger Park, Francois further expanded their group’s accommodation offerings by opening up a Manor Lodge in Nelspruit, targeting not only tourists but businessmen alike.

 

Tom C. Garven, MBBS, MD, PhD
[Acting COO]

Dr. Tom is a globetrotter and philanthropist, whose interests go well beyond his medical expertise.  He grew up in Europe and lived for 20 years in the USA, before he decided to settle in southern Africa.  In collaboration with Etienne, he founded one of the first worldwide online travel agencies in Europe, specifically targeted for African destinations. 
Dr. Tom is also involved in various healthcare projects in form of non-profit organizations, which primarily take place in South Africa and Mozambique, and are of private or collaborative nature with the local and/or national Ministries of Health.

 

Gerrit van der Nest, LLB Law, UNICA International tax  
[Acting CLO]

Gerrit studied law at the University of Pretoria, specializing in Corporate and Commercial Law.  In addition to his own private law practice, he provides all legal support for the family business.
Gerrit is an avid sports enthusiast, who loves to try out any sporting activities whenever time permits.

 

Leani van Heerden CIA, CCSA,B Com (Hons) Internal Auditing, acting CFO
[Acting CFO]
Leani is an independent consultant with a passion for corporate governance, risk management, internal audit and related subject matters.  As a Certified Internal Auditor, she will assure that our company’s financial situation and bookkeeping will conform to accepted standards and ethics, and could withstand the most rigorous tax audits.

 

Lizelle Strydom
[Acting CMO]
Lizelle heads the Marketing & Sales Department of LISTIT, for which she brings along many years of experience in administration, client relations and service delivery.  She has been involved in developing new business and product innovations, as well as promoting (new) companies and their (new) brands.
